How to build a quiz using Drag & Drop Builder of Hippo Quiz?

  1. From list page, click on the Quiz title or for new quiz click “Create Quiz”
  2. In the summary page of the Quiz, click on “Add question”
  3. It will take you to the builder.
  4. From the left panel you can double click respective question type or drag and drop the question type to the right panel, to add.

What are the types of questions to add to a quiz?

Multiple Choice
- allows the test taker to choose only one option as right answer
Multiple Checkbox
- allows the test taker to select multiple right answers
Fill in the Blanks
- allows the test taker to fill the right answer
Match the Following
- allows the user to match the option with right answer
True/False
- allows the test taker to choose either right or false as right answer
Essay
- allows the user to describe the answer in 1000 characters in the given text area

Note - Except Essay, all the other question types are auto evaluated and graded

How to import quiz from spreadsheet?

xls,xlsx and csv files are supported. The file should be in the given format for easy import -SampleFile.xls

  1. For new quiz click “Create Quiz” from Quizzes List page
    1. You will find “Import Spreadsheet” option on the bottom right pane
    2. From the import page, click “Choose File” to browse and select the file to be imported.
    3. You can also drag and drop the file from your system into the specified area to import
    4. Once the file is loaded, it will show you the file name with Encode and Date format options. After selection, click on Import
    5. In the “Map fields” page, map the column of the spreadsheet to the Question fields and click “Next”
    6. In the next page, choose what to do for the additional unmapped columns, if any in the spreadsheet. Click Next
    7. Preview, how the questions are going to be imported and confirm Import.

  2. For adding questions through import to existing quiz, click on the respective quiz “Edit” icon from Quizzes list
    1. In the Builder area, click on “Import questions” option on the top right
    2. From the import page, click “Choose File” to browse and select the file to be imported. You can also drag and drop the file from your system into the specified area to import
    3. Once the file is loaded, it will show you the file name with Encode and Date format options. After selection, click on Import
    4. In the “Map fields” page, map the column of the spreadsheet to the Question fields and click “Next”
    5. In the next page, choose what to do for the additional unmapped columns, if any in the spreadsheet. Click Next

    5. All the parsed questions with possible and relevant answers will be shown in a spreadsheet format
    6. The slide from which the question was extracted will be tagged to that question

    8. You can edit/add/modify the questions and answer options in the spreadsheet view
    9. You can select the questions to be imported and click import

How to configure points for a Quiz?

  1. Click on the Settings icon of the respective quiz in List page
  2. In the Settings page, click on “Scores & Grades” sub tab
  3. In “Score management”, choose the required option.
  4. For Equal points, provide the “Total points for all the questions”. It will automatically calculate and show you the points per question
  5. If you want to assign points individually for each question, click on “Manage points” and provide points for each question
  6. You can also assign “Negative points” for wrong answer

How to set Grades for Quiz?


  1. Click on the Settings icon of the respective quiz in List page
  2. In the Settings page, click on “Scores & Grades” sub tab
  3. Select “Result type” in Results
  4. For Grade, you can add custom grades by Editing the default grades

How to set Certificate to be issued to successful learners?


  1. Click on the Settings icon of the respective quiz in List page
  2. In the Settings page, click on “Results” sub tab
  3. Select the Certificate design to be issued
  4. For setting criteria when to show certificate, choose the option “Show certificate”
  5. You can set whether score to be shown or not and custom messages

How to restrict the availability of the quiz?


  1. Click on the Settings icon of the respective quiz in List page
  2. In the Settings page, click on “Availability” sub tab
  3. You can set the time of availability by choosing “Availability option”
  4. You can set the number of attempts in “No of attempts” option
  5. You can set the time limit by choosing “Time to complete quiz” option

How can I set access control of the quiz?


  1. For employees who need to be assessed continuously - “Users and Groups”
  2. For contacts who need to signup like candidates, leads etc - “Anyone with this quiz url”
  3. For setting criteria when to show certificate, choose the option “Show certificate”

How to setup Learner Portal?


  1. Click on the “Account Settings” on the main left navigation panel
  2. In the “Portal settings” you can Enable custom domain and set visibility criteria
  3. You can copy the Portal link and share it with your users

How can I assign Quizzes?


  1. Click on the Settings icon of the respective quiz in List page
  2. In the Settings page, click on “Assign Test Takers” sub tab
  3. Choose the Access control
  4. Set the additional information to be captured about the test taker
  5. Add email ids or users to “Assign Test Takers”. You can also import from csv or spreadsheet
  6. Edit the email content and send invite
